Way back in November 2000 I injured my back and it kept me off work for around 7 weeks. During that I time I started to watch a day time TV show called Watercolour Challenge and started to think, I'm sure I could do as well as some of the contestants.
The result was my partner bought me a starter set of paints, brushes and a book called 'Simply Painting' by Frank Clarke and from that moment on I started on the road to try to teach myself. There were plenty of disasters on the way, but I still managed to produce a few decent paintings, some of which are hanging on relatives walls. Then work and other interests started to get in the way of things and my interest waned, to such an extent that I haven't painted anything for 2 years now.
That changed 5 weeks ago, when my interest was rekindled and I started to go to evening classes for watercolour painting. I think the lack of practise is showing but I'm picking up tips as I go along and feel there has been some improvements in my techniques over the last 5 weeks.
Anyway see for yourself and feel free to critisise, but remember I do it for fun not profit.
I tried watercoloring in art class last year and I just made a mess! But it was still fun....
These are awesome! You do a great job! I enjoy ink drawing myself.
